For those of us living in the Midwest and own homes with a foundation, the National drought radar is showing some interesting trends that we may pay attention towards. In quick summary, as droughts ascend into an area soils around your foundation begin to contract and recede. As soils contract there is less pressure against your home's foundation walls assisting your walls to support the weight load of your home. Foundation walls alone need a limited amount of soil pressure to help carry the load. Without the pressure, foundation walls can suffer immensely.

If you are currently experiencing foundation settlement, bowed walls or wall cracks, you may want to consider getting those evaluated by a foundation professional. KC Pier provides a 40 point foundation inspection for any structure. Our foundation inspection covers the overall condition and integrity of your foundation walls and how well it is prepared for its current condition or future changes that may occur. Our foundation inspections are currently free and we would be glad to come out to provide our free consultation if interested.
